Gender equality has become a matter for international concern and an ongoing human rights violation which the world is committed to ending. Equality is the ideal situation where women and men have equal opportunities for the achievement of their full human rights and potential; are capable of contributing equally to and reap equally from, national political, economic, social and cultural growth. In addition, it includes systematically recognizing and removing the root causes of discrimination in order to provide equal opportunities to men and women. Equality is also considered to include formal and substantive equality not just simple equality between men and women.

As the world which Nigeria is part of observes International day of zero tolerance of female genital mutilation, Citizens Centre for Integrated Development and Social Rights.(CCIDESOR) joins citizens and organizations who believed that FGM is a violation of the rights of girls and women, to commiserate with millions of Nigeria women who are victims of FGM and call on government at federal and state levels to save the remaining women from being victims by either passing  law  against it or implementing the existing law that prohibits FGM.

Election is the bedrock of any democracy because it offers the citizens the opportunity to elect those who will lead them. To be able to properly vote for candidate, there are usually the process of promise and acceptance of programs, projects, ideas and plans. These promises which are usually made during campaigns are now referred to as campaign promises. During elections, they are made in their thousands, both realizable and non realizable promises. When non realizable promises are made to sway citizens to vote for candidate who from the beginning has no interest in realizing the promises, it changes from promise to campaign swindles.

Between February 2011 and September 2012, CCIDESOR organized series of citizen’s capacity building to prepare the community members to attract desired development through critical and strategic engagement with the governance process as well as the key players. These capacity building efforts were conducted under our unique approach called Democracy Clinic. It was through this clinic that Democracy and Development Vanguards emerged to oversee and facilitate sustainable Democracy Clinic meant to cure democracy ills.

Introduction

A good work ethic is what most employers look highly in employees. Work ethics is defined from the perspective of working hard in the willingness to put the organization first. Therefore honesty and working well with other coworkers are considered to be good work ethics as well. In Nigeria, particularly in public or government service, lack of honesty or integrity has been responsible for the high corruption level and the current low level of development.  Having a good work ethic can help to advance nations and individuals .

This performance assessment project is intended to provide operational guide for running community-based performance and project monitoring actions along with the community Democracy Clinics being implemented in three states of the southeast.
